Leaning In

May your day be filled with the joy of the Lord who can keep you, protect you, and strengthen you in every situation and circumstance that may meet you this week and in this life.

I want to encourage you to take some time today and lean into Christ and let His comforting love and wisdom embrace you. I may not know what you are facing today, but He does. Will you let Him in? Will you invite Him into your day by lifting up your voice to Him? No matter what you are facing, I want you to know that He is bigger than what you are up against. He is never too far nor will He ever be too busy to reach us. He has never failed and He won’t start now. We may not fully understand what is happening in our lives right now or even in our world, but no matter what befalls this earth, His goodness and compassion still remain.

Take some time today and lean into Him because when we lean, we glean; we gain more from Him than we could ever think, hope, or imagine! When we lean in, it shows our desire to know what the speaker is saying. It takes focus and intentionality. It takes desire and willingness to draw in a bit closer. Leaning in looks like turning off the television, so you can open up your bible and read. Leaning in looks like putting down the phone or other electronic devices, and spending some time in prayer. Leaning in looks listening to a sermon on something you are struggling with and want to overcome. Leaning in sounds like worshipping God through singing songs to Him and songs about Him and praising His wonderful and holy name. Leaning in looks like going to someone you trust and being transparent with the intention of receiving help, prayer, accountability, and direction.

So let’s take some time today, and lean in together. Let’s lean in and be reminded of who Christ truly is. He knows what we are all up against, and no matter what it looks like, He has not abandoned us. He is working things out with each of us in mind. He is unending and unfailing. He is rich in mercy and love. No matter what it looks like, He isn’t finished yet. Below are the lyrics and the YouTube video link to the song, “Do It Again” by Elevation Worship. A portion of the song says,

“I know the night won’t last, Your Word will come to pass, My heart will sing Your praise again, Jesus, You’re still enough, Keep me within Your love, My heart will sing Your praise again, Your promise still stands, Great is Your faithfulness, faithfulness, I’m still in Your hands, This is my confidence, You never failed”

However you choose to lean into God today, I pray you are reminded of His faithfulness and that you are strengthened with His joy. We are still in the grasp of His control and He has no intention of letting us go. Even though things may look dark, His light will always able to cut through and find you because He loves you.

God Bless.

Arnita Faith

P.S.: Leaning in also looks like asking someone questions about who Jesus Christ is and asking why He matters! If you don’t know who Jesus is, now is the greatest time to find out. He loves you and wants you to know it! Getting to know Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and the Savior of the world is the greatest thing you will ever do. He loves you and has a very special plan for your life.

Do It Again – LIVE – Elevation Worship

Walking around these walls
I thought by now they’d fall
But You have never failed me yet
Waiting for change to come
Knowing the battle’s won
For You have never failed me yet
Your promise still stands
Great is Your faithfulness, faithfulness
I’m still in Your hands
This is my confidence, You’ve never failed me yet
I know the night won’t last
Your Word will come to pass
My heart will sing Your praise again
Jesus, You’re still enough
Keep me within Your love
My heart will sing Your praise again
Your promise still stands
Great is Your faithfulness, faithfulness
I’m still in Your hands
This is my confidence, You never failed
Your promise still stands
Great is Your faithfulness, faithfulness
I’m still in Your hands
This is my confidence, You never failed me yet
I’ve seen You move, come move the mountains
And I believe, I’ll see You do it again
You made a way, where there was no way
And I believe, I’ll see You do it again
I’ve seen You move, come move the mountains
And I believe, I’ll see You do it again
You made a way, where there was no way
And I believe, I’ll see You do it again
I’ve seen You move, come move the mountains
And I believe, I’ll see You do it again
You made a way, where there was no way
And I believe, I’ll see You do it again
I’ll see You do it again
Oh-oh
Your promise still stands
Great is Your faithfulness, faithfulness
I’m still in Your hands
This is my confidence, You never failed
Your promise still stands
Great is Your faithfulness, faithfulness
I’m still in Your hands
This is my confidence, You never failed me yet
And You never failed me yet
I never will forget
You never failed me yet
And I never will forget

He Knows

Sunflower blowing in the wind

I pray that whatever you are going through in this time, you would turn to Jesus who has a plan prepared just for you. He knows you. He knows the storm you are facing right now. He knows the valleys of sorrow and defeat that are trying to enclose you, but it’s ONLY HIM who can create the steps to bring you out safe. He has a plan for you, whether you realize it or not. He fashioned you in your mother’s womb. He mapped out your days before you came into existence, and He is willing to light the right path for you to travel on.

Don’t allow everything that is happening in the world right now,  to rob you of reaching out to God. But instead, let it make you truly search for Him and get to know who He really is. He loves you; He really does. He has the answers you’re looking for. He is the answer you’re looking for. Stand still, take a deep breath, and lean into Him. Talk to Him and pour out your heart to Him; tell Him your fears and your doubts. Share with Him your longings and frustrations. Share with Him what keeps you distant and apprehensive of Him. He is not overwhelmed by anything we have to say, nor is He offended, BUT He is listening. His ears are not turned off from you and His arms are not too short that He cannot reach out to you.

“Day 19” is the poem that is featured below by a young woman named Alexandra Hill. She wrote it during a stormy season in her life that only God was able to carry her through. She said, “I named it [Day 19] because, in that time of my life, I could only see one day at a time, so I [named it] according to the day that had passed”.

Whatever the day is for you, let Jesus be apart of getting you through it. We cannot do this life alone, it would only destroy us. But with Jesus, we are strengthened, made whole, find meaning and are revitalized for the journey ahead of us.  Let Jesus grow you through this storm, and draw you in close to Him. He is speaking. Are you listening?

I am praying for you and for the world as we are facing such an incredibly difficult time in history. May God keep you and your loved ones and draw you in close. God Bless.

Day 19 by Alexandra Hill

Standing in the garden

Searching

Waiting

Listening

For Your voice

Sitting in silence

There

Right there

You caught my ear:

“Don’t give up

Though you might lose focus

Though you can’t seem to find yourself

You’ve lost sight of who you are in the chaos

Trust ME

I know you

LISTEN to ME

I AM WITH YOU

I won’t let you fall

Lean on Me

Draw from Me

You are still standing

Don’t you know that I made you this resilient?

Storms have come and gone

But look at you

My love,

You have weathered them gracefully

The winds have threatened to knock you down

But darling,

I’ve held you up

You’ve felt weak, but I’ve been your strength

You feel defeated, but you’re still in the race

Don’t you know that I chose you?

Amongst all others,

I know you

I wanted you

I kept you

Everyday

I have watched you grow

When you had lost all hope

When you saw only faults and imperfections

Just when you had given up

I took you from a place of despair

And planted you firmly in a place that I knew you would thrive

It’s hard to look at how far you’ve come

It’s hard to see the scars and not feel the pain that came when they were still fresh wounds

But if you could see yourself the way I see you

Beyond the imperfections that I love anyways

You, My darling, would see growth

During the uncertainty of life, you came boldly before Me

Through fear of the unknown, your faith grew in Me

Calling on Me to be your strength when you felt weak

Still standing before me

You are My masterpiece.”

Peace

Peace by Luis Massa Jr

In a time where panic and fear is being consumed by the gallons, and anxiety is stacked in hearts and homes higher than the Empire State building, I am reminded of something that seems to have been left on the shelves in abundant proportions: PEACE!

As I was scrolling through my Facebook feed the other day and I landed on the picture above by an incredibly gifted, young artist named Luis Massa Jr. In his post, he spoke on how in the times we’re facing right now, we need the peace of Christ. When I saw this piece of art, I was immediately reminded of one of my favorite verses in the bible: John 14:27. In this verse, Jesus specifically tells us of the incredible gift that He is leaving for us: His peace.

“Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.]” John 14:27

He leaves with us, and it’s His perfect peace is what He gives to us. Reading this, it makes me think of how Jesus is the most perfect gift giver. He doesn’t just give us what we want, but He gives us what He knows we will need. He knew we would encounter peace snatchers and havoc shakers all throughout history, so He left us with a treasure that would be unending and able to stand the tests of time.

The peace He has gifted to us literally means “to have a state of national tranquility that is exempt from rage and havoc of war; it means harmony, security, safety, and prosperity”.

My oh my…what a gift, what a gift. Then He specifically and intentionally continues by telling us that this is not a gift that the world is able to give us. That it is something that can ONLY be gotten from Him. Peace gotten from the world runs out, but the PEACE of God is one that is everlasting, and everflowing like a rapid, waterfall pouring out at the rate at which we need it. And His Peace is the only thing that is able to give us the ability to obey the command that proceeds the gift: “Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid.”

God did not give us the spirit of fear, which creates bondage, selfishness, fearfulness, cowardness. But He gave us His Spirit that consists of power (miraculous power and strength), love that is charitable and affectionate and soundness of mind.

I was sitting in prayer the other day and Psalms 121 popped into my mind. It starts with I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” In an instant, God spoke to my heart and said: “you have to be willing to look up to Me in order to receive what you are in need of”. In these coming weeks, it will so easy for us to be consumed by looking all-around at the media and news feeds to get the insight and direction and maybe even peace and comfort of what to do. We have been so consumed with the spirit of fear from our horizontal looking at events unfolding in our world, that so many of us have fallen away from a vertical looking to where our True Help comes from.

“But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. I call out to the Lord, and He answers me from His holy mountain.” Psalm 3:3-4

Whether it’s doubt, fear, or the uncertainty of what is going to happen, God is willing and able to lift our head up to Him and be a surrounding shield of peace and protection. He desires to be at the center of all things in our lives. He is not surprised by what is happening; he has the remedy to this whole situation but it starts with us looking to him and grabbing a hold of all that He is. So as you go to Him and you allow Him to lift your head, be reminded that as His child when you call Him, He hears the ring in heaven, and picks it up to answer you!

Will you call on Him? I hope so. I pray we all will; with one sound and with one voice, calling out to the King and Creator of the galaxies to forgive our sins, and heal our land.

Blessings,

Arnita Faith
